PEI’s main employers are involve in the fishery, tourism and especially agriculture with its largest crop being the potato crop, all of which are largely provide seasonal employment.

More and more, the province’s aerospace, bio-science and renewable energy industries have become significant employers on the island.

There is some limited activity in mining and gas resources. Other opportunities lie in the public administration sector and with healthcare and educational facilities.
