More construction jobs in Saskatchewan!

In November there were approximately 48,500 people working in Saskatchewan construction jobs, compared to 47,500 the previous year.

This is according to Statistics Canada figures updated December 6, 2013 and is about a 2% increase over this time last year.

There were even more people working in Construction in October, however, as one would expect, in Saskatchewan there tends to be less construction activity during the winter months.

Saskatchewan employment increased by 2.8%

Overall Saskatchewan showed an increase of 2.8% when all jobs are taken into consideration.

Some of the strongest growth sectors comparing November 2013 to November 2012 include:
Construction workers with a window frame

  • Transportation and warehousing with a 27.2% increase
  • Accommodation and food services with a 19.9% increase 
  • Professional, scientific and technical services with a 15% increase 
  • Manufacturing with a 5.1% increase
