Lush North America supports more than 270 retail stores in Canada and the USA, and has manufacturing, distribution and E-commerce facilities located in both Vancouver and Toronto.

We are looking for a Cost Accountant who will work with a core Manufacturing Finance team including Controller, Cost Accountants, Senior Financial Analyst, Manufacturing Managers and teams to effectively support the greater manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Finance team act as a key business partner to effectively support our wide range of Manufacturing teams across the business.

The Cost Accountant will work with each manufacturing department manager to better understand the manufacturing processes (costings, labour, inventory etc.) and build KPI's and reports that can be used to measure and improve performance. In addition, the Cost Accountant partner with senior leadership and the wider finance team to calculate all New Product costs and do a Post Launch analysis comparing the estimated costs against the actual costs. The Cost Accountant will also ensure that the integrity of the item set up and bills of materials for all products. Reporting to the Manufacturing Controller, the Cost Accountant will undertake the following responsibilities:

* Support, maintain and improve the product costing process and bill of materials within the factories. Ensure they represent and drive factory processes.
* Calculate all costs of new product launches and campaigns
* Lead post launch analysis on new products or campaigns launched
* Ensure the manufacturing selling price in our ERP (DAX) is correct
* Drive overall cost/price/comparative analytics
* Lead weekly/monthly waste reviews/analytics
* Analyse product profitability reviews quarterly/budget/forecasting
* Other material cost analysis (in-bound freight, moulds, other variances, purchase variance)
* Work with each manufacturing room/team to help identify and drive down waste
* Update standard costs annually or as needed
* Ensure the costing system is accurate
* Help coordinate and run the annual year end inventory count
* Work with the Inventory Controllers to help educate/ensure correct entries/processes are being used to drive accurate costing information
* Participate fully in the continual development of room reporting tools and take part in regular review updates with factory and room managers.
* Work with other members of the Manufacturing Finance team and manufacturing managers to improve KPI's to highlight success and areas for development
* Contribute to end of month and end of year financial statement preparation as needed
* Liaise with auditors on preparing related working papers and lead sheets

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Cost Accountant, working within in a manufacturing environment
* Hold a professional accounting designation (CMA/CA/CGA or in final stages of completion and committed to completing)
* Outstanding analytical capability
* Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to achieve deadlines
* Exceptional problem-solving skillset
* Proactive, quick on your feet and the ability to see the big picture
* Detail orientated and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Proven ability to work directly with senior leadership team and advise to various stakeholders on costing analysis
* Ability to work independently and also enjoys a collaborative and creative work environment
* Technical skills required: Experience with MRP/ERP systems and MS Office

Preferred:

* Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Prophix is beneficial
* Experience working within a cosmetics or food/beverage manufacturing environment
* Experience in high volume, vertically integrated retail/manufacturing operations
