Job Summary:Working under the direction of the EHS Supervisor, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department.
Job Description:MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:- Under general supervision, implements programs, policies, procedures and processes in support of CF Industries EHS strategies, including but not limited to: emergency response, accident prevention, investigations, root cause analysis, safety compliance issues, aspects of safety management systems, and assist with other general safety, health and environmental tasks.
- Monitor, audit, train and prepare reports to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, permit conditions, site-specific conditions, requirements, procedures, policies or other authorizing documents required by regulatory agencies.
- Assist with the complex safety programs design to train and motivate personnel to minimize occupational incidents, injuries and hazards. Supports the implementation of the safety program, procedures, guidelines and work methods for operations and maintenance activities, training complex personnel in all phases of the safety program and making safety recommendations as needed.
- Document and report safety conditions and compliance documentation to EHS Supervisor, EHS Manager and Corporate EHS Department as needed or requested for safety performance.
- Provide guidance to Production Supervisors and Maintenance Planners on higher risk field permitting activities and serve as subject matter expert for safety related field activities including Safe Work Plans and Job Safety Analyses (JSA's).
- Conduct or participate in investigations of safety incidents, near misses and root case analysis of safety issues.
- Manage EHS metrics in CF Industries EMIS Compliance Management System and assist in development and maintenance of other sustainability programs as requested.
- Monitor hazardous work and patriciate in planning and execution of work events that are unusual or potentially hazardous.
- Assist with the review and oversight of all new regulatory initiatives ensuring compliance with existing regulations dealing with safety for the Courtright Nitrogen Complex.
- Build rapport with front line and supervision in order to uphold strong safety culture.
- Carries out all other duties as assigned.
JOB DESCRIPTION:- The Safety Coordinator will possess a basic understanding of Ammonia, Ammonium Nitrate (intermediate processes), transportation, storage and processing including safety, environmental, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Familiarity with safety and health, designs and specifications, and requirements/regulations to operate a Nitrogen Complex and its associated facilities. Understand various applicable laws, regulations, codes and standards and permits required to operate a Nitrogen Complex, including OHSA, knowledge in emergency response operations, techniques and reporting.
- Assist EHS personnel with development of new, and revision of current, safety and health procedures to provide a safe work environment for employees, including:
- OBS / HPR / FTRA
- Incident, near miss, and Hazard ID reporting
- Life Critical Standards
- Contractor management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- The incumbent will possess a minimum of a degree/diploma in health and safety or a related field.
- Have a minimum of three years of experience in an EHS role within an industrial plant environment. Ideally, the incumbent will have an extensive background in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry.
- Possession of or eligibility to attain Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP or CRST) accreditation.
